It has to do with 1.8 skins. Although optifine could be an issue, as it is with mine.

Well i did just update my skin to the new format, and things look fine for me, but i have optifine installed.

Similar happens to me when I take my laptop to college and try playing Minecraft. Even when on offline mode, I don't get the default skin, I get this:


Those were from a year ago. I wasn't using Opitfine. I thought it may of been due to bad connection. Who knows.
