What makes a great Guide according to you?

Being one of the first groups of Guides to this server back in 2011, I can attest to much of what a good Guide entails. I was there for most of the early server shenanigans, I know older locations well, as well as server history and information involving past people and projects. The only reason I left my Guide position originally was because I was promoted to Staff as Officer (Enforcer) in 2012, if not for that promotion I don't think I would left the position, because I quite liked being Guide. I believe Guide would be a good opportunity for current Staff to evaluate my performance in more of a demanding role than Adventurer, and for them to see for themselves the person who I have become.

I believe Guides must be the most approachable members of the community. They represent what a model member should be, and in turn follow all rules and statutes listed in the TOS and Rules. The importance of approach-ability is paramount, for they are the rank most responsible for the aid of new-comers and members who have questions or concerns about server.

With the aforementioned in consideration, Guides must be well-versed with server functions at all times, both on the server itself, and on our site and forums. Guides are often the most knowledgeable about the comings and going of the server. Whether it be what projects are being worked on, to server history, to Tolkien Lore, Guides cover an array of material. Guides must be able to provide accurate, quick and correct aid to those whom need questions answered, sometimes in more than just a forum link.

EDIT: I'd like to add a few things after talking to some current Guides. My intentions may have been misinterpreted, I never intended for Guide to be a stepping stone. I misspoke (or miss-typed I guess) my reasons for applying for Guide. I am fully interested in the rank of Guide and all that follows. I look forward to the new challenges and working together with the other Guides as a team if promoted. I have no intention of sitting on the Guide rank like and egg, do nothing and hope for Enforcer. My sole reasons for applying for Guide is simply, to be a Guide. But it also a good opportunity in my eyes to show whom I am as a person, and how I have grown.

Thank you for your application

During your application you may be contacted to demonstrate a Trial Server tour where you will be provided with a location (Prior notice will be given to you to prepare for the tour through a PM). The tour will be appraised based on your ability to conduct yourself with a group of people, how you articulate the information of the location, your communication skills as well as organisation. Note: You must be using a Microphone to conduct the tour

Please note that not everyone will be asked to conduct a trial tour but an application may still be considered.

Each applicant will be evaluated on their merits and their overall character as individual within the Community.

If you have any queries or concerns regarding your application, please do not hesitate to personal message me or one of the current guides. Arkengard, Lady_of_Rohan, DarthRagnar, Mandolore100, CEFkilla96 or Artie_. Good luck with your application.
