Sign Concepts
Hello all!
So, I'm running a little concept build based of this suggestion here.
Some if not many of you will remember on MCME 1.0 we had little direction signs such as:
(I believe this idea was originally made by @Iru c: )
Simply put, it's been suggested we bring them back! And with dynmap down and people wanting to get around themselves I need some concepts for every crossroad everywhere~
To start it off, @Credoo's already implemented two crossroad signs such as:
So I've set up a little concept plot on freebuild that anyone can add their own idea. It has a row for each resource pack so we can implement signs of different styles where needed anywhere :D
So if you think you're design could fit on our map, please grab a plot in the right row, claim it with a sign showing your username so we know who to give credit to, and give it a shot!

Hey Guys! Remember this?
Well I've been around the Shire adding a bunch of different welcome and direction signs and this is what I've got so far. Look at all the green!

However you may notice that there's quite a bit of red o: All of these (some not even marked) are farms and these farms need names!
What I ask of you, the community, is to think of lore appropriate names such as Proudfoot Farm etc (something more interesting would be cool) and if I like it, it'll be implemented!
If not, just make a good pun ;D

While we're adding signs to shire farms, could we label Farmer Maggot's farm as Bamfurlong? (i might have misspelled it)

Trying to be as lore appropriate as possible, here are some names with the same kind of derivation as the hobbit towns: Anglo-Saxon/old English place names. Some might actually be real places for all I know (though likely small ones), idk if that would be a problem. Perfectly fine to put "farm" after any of them really if you want, or have something along the lines of "Aldham fields", "Selcot furrow", or, if it means farm or field just by itself, "Morden" (just as Bamfurlong means something along the lines of bean field). I've put the meanings since some of them would only make sense for farms with specific features (hills, forests, pastures... some would be easy to add, like yew trees). Others wouldn't matter which farm they were used for, or you could just say whatever feature is referred to used to be there but is no longer if it isn't so geographical. I tried to make them sound hobbity too. So here goes:

Morden – big field (probably for pigs)
Barrowley – Forest clearing
Odsby – Od’s (Oswald’s) farm/village
Turnstock – Place with thorny trees
Littleworth – Small enclosure
Tyfield – Tye’s field
Aldham – Old farm/village
Selcot – Shelter/hall
Yewbury – Fortified place with yew trees
Crawdon – Crow hill
Elmhurst – Hill forested with elm trees

I think some farms could also simply be named after nearby villages, if it works as a name. So, for example, near Budgeford have Budge farm, near Greenfields have Green farm, and so on.

I'd agree with Braz that geographical things are good (for example the one east of needle hole: bindbole farm after the wood, or the one near greenfield: fellin farm after the fields) and there's a few that are right around forks in the road so they could be named after that. We might even name a few things similarly (i.e. x farm and somewhere else x field) since it happens in real life and i don't think the shire is so small as for everyone to know all the farms.

That Maple Farm discussion should be going on here, not in the trees thread. I'd agree with @arcusthehero that simply maple farm isn't enough. Maybe mapledon, but it's not much of a hill. Maybe (looking at brazen's roots above) mapleby (farm) or mapleworth (enclosure, since the farm is walled in).

Wasn't sure if this really fit on the Derp Report Thread.

Sign outside of Bree: it's Deadmen's Dike not Dyke.
Not sure whether I found the right sign, (t'was a bit northwest of bree) but heres my concept for it:

"Deadman's Dike" is no official term, the official name is Fornost Erain ("Northcastle of the Kings"), and I could imagine that someone wrote that other name on the sign later; so i went through the list of unicode chars and picked out some...

I was referring to the sign near the main/west gate of bree (at the warp). There might be other signs pointing towards fornost too, which may need correction.

I've probably missed a few but for the most part I would consider it finished! Thank you all for your suggestions.
Many of which that are relatively lore appropriate have been used c:
If you have any feedback, noticed any I've missed etc. Feel free to continue to use this thread to point it out!
