Opening Statement

Q did some stuff this week, including announcing a change to https for the forums and updating PVP to 1.10.2! (now @Kulmo can play). Other than that, things on the server have seemed pretty quiet this week, just as Bilbo would want them. That doesn't mean there was no progress though - read on to learn about it!

Also, I've been including fanfictions in the Times for a few weeks and I'd like to know what you think of them. Please respond to the poll or post below!

Aaanndd for the 3rd thing, the Durin's Day Summer Events were announced this week! Have a look at this thread for information!

What's Up?

Project Progress

Andrast (In Progress) - Lead: @jacenpeter

Even more work on Ras Morthil

Belfalas (In Progress) - Lead: @Thijs1801

Kis continued to work on Brass Vîr, Eriol and Darki are still happily voxeling and Mandos is still working on Coaldael. Thijs, meanwhile, has been planning some stuff and building a forest.

Lamedon (In Progress) - Lead: @_Luk

On my part, I did a few bushes and such, but I was mostly working on two islands off the coast of Belfalas. I would assume Luk did some terraforming, though I can't say for sure.
Misty Mountains (In Progress) - Lead: @Finrod_Amandil

Nothing from me once more, and get used to that for a little while longer. I apologise for a lack of activity and if anyone thinks I am missing out on doing something, please message me!

Tolfalas (In Progress) - Lead: @Tyranystrasz

The T-Rex worked on the layout of a small village this week.
Valleys of Celos and Sirith (In Progress) - Lead: @Fireinferno13

As of now all of the river sources have been finished. I have been really busy the past week and next week so I will unfortunately not have a ton of time to work on any more mountains for now. Wraith has also been helping with some terraforming however I am not sure how much progress has been made on that front.

Plugin Development
Animation Plugin (In Progress) - Dev: @Ivan1pl

Both moving and stationary animations seem to work fine. I recorded a short preview of moving animation (preview of stationary animation was already featured in MCME Times few weeks ago).
Here it is:

I also started working on triggers that will start animation in reaction to specific events.
Here is a list of planned triggers:
  • Range trigger - animation will start when a player enters the area near the animation. When all players leave the area, reverse animation will be played.
  • Loop trigger - animation will repeat as long as there are players in range.
  • Chat trigger - like range trigger, but animation will not start automatically. Player in range has to type keyword in chat to start the animation (like 'mellon' for Moria doors).
  • Interaction trigger - animation will start when player clicks on a block. Another click will start reverse animation (can be used for Bucklebury Ferry).

Plotbuild Plugin (Ready to Implement) - Devs: @Eriol_Eandur & @Ivan1pl

New New Player World (Ready to Implement) - Dev: @Eriol_Eandur, Assistance: @_Luk

MCME-Architect and Minigames (Ready to Implement) - Dev: @Eriol_Eandur

Resource Packs
Mordor Pack (On Hold) - Lead: @bender400

Despite being On Hold, progress was still made on the Mordor Pack!

After talking to bender about compatibility, I will be uploading some of the textures that I made to the Mordor pack in the coming weeks. This includes the skulls, some flowers and saplings, some crops, etc.

Beets (In Progress) - Creator: @Fireinferno13

No progress this week
3D Models (In Progress) - Creator: @NEEPcrafter

As far as I'm aware, these are still in the process of being added to the packs. Hopefully we'll see them ingame soon!
Rank Updates

None this week.
Media of the Week

@Tyranystrasz made some beaauuttiiffull renders using Mineways, which I understand have been very popular on social media. This is my favorite (will be even better once Tyr's Mordor terrain is in there):

Fanfiction #6: Lords of Gondor by "Linaewen"

Here's one about what would have happened if Boromir hadn't died. It's quite long, so read as much as you want.

Link to the story: Lords of Gondor

If you don't mind, please answer the poll at the top of the thread on these fanfictions!

Themed Build

Coming Soon!

Scheduled Events

There wasn't an audiobook tour this week, so if you thought you missed it, you're in luck! Next week's tour hasn't been scheduled yet, so watch out for that!
Jobs & Plotbuilds

Scheduled Saturday Jobs seem to be suffering a bit from @Finrod_Amandil's extra time spent studying. But, if there are to be any jobs on Saturday, they will be announced in this thread. Be sure to ask Designers for jobs at any time, maybe they can offer something!

Nic's Tours

No tours have been scheduled for the coming week. Keep an eye out on the thread for any announcements!
Community Outreach

Builder School (In Progress)

Several players have gotten together to rebuild and update @Will_em 's famous Builder School, which sought to teach new players how to build in the distinctive "MCME Style." We are all looking forward to how this will turn out!

Facebook Page

@Fireinferno13 would like to know what YOU want to see on the MCME Facebook page. He would greatly appreciate if you would leave your feedback here or in THIS thread.

Closing Statement

Well, we don't have any puns from @mandolore100 this week, so here's a good one from XKCD. Hopefully I have enough Lord of the Rings-related XKCD's to last until after @Finrod_Amandil's finals.
