From the creators of Serious Sam, and with a story written by the creator of Faster Than Light, comes a new game that no one was expecting from a company known for making their own engine just to handle the chaos of the Serious Sam games, like fighting 4000 enemies at once.

The Talos Principle is a complete masterpiece, in my opinion. It's not just about the amazing puzzles, which are only vaguely reminiscent of the Portal games developed by Valve. It's not just the graphics, which are stunning if you remember that all of this is being built on an ancient engine. And it's not just the story that is both intriguing and haunting. Nor is it about the amazing soundtracks that come with it. It's the themes that are incorporated into the game, the ideas that have you questioning your own existence and identity.

The obvious theme of obedience and defiance is almost borrowed directly from the first few pages of Genesis, but that doesn't make it less amazing. In the beginning of the game, you wake up and find yourself in a strange world. Then a voice speaks to you. This is the voice of Elohim, your creator (Elohim is the original name for God). Elohim tells you to find his sigils, which are scattered across the game in puzzles that Elohim himself has created. And you listen to him, because he's the only one that you know exists in this strange world, and so you find some of his sigils and complete a few puzzles.

Then you meet Milton. Drawing from the Bible reference, Milton is the serpent. The tempter. The one Elohim tells you to avoid, but you're drawn to him because Milton's voice is one of reason, the voice that provides doubt. Then Elohim speaks to you, telling you that you are destined to find all of the sigils and be his servant for eternity. He tells you that you are free to explore the world that he made for you and others like you, but he also tells you not the climb the tower which is in the center of the main world. And of course, Milton urges you to climb the tower and defy Elohim's will.
