It seems I do not have permissions to post in Community News and Announcements so I am posting here
Welcome to the Ent build contest. The aim of this contest will be to make a bunch of forest update ents. Currently in fangorn there are several dozen ents and it would be a really nice feature to have a similar amount in the revamp. The contest will take place in the Gondor resource pack and hopefully will be made easier by recent rp additions.
How should I start?
Go to /mvtp Plotworld and warp to /warp GTBuildContest. Step inside one of the white plots and type /plot claim. If we run out of plots please message me to make more. You can build here every day if you want to.
If you were to switch worlds and do not know how to get back here. Once you switch from any other world back to plotworld, it shows you a light blue message in chat. Whenever you click on this message, it gives you a teleport link in the chat towards your plot.
The Build Contest will begin on today and will last three weeks.
What is expected of the build to look like?
So the scale of the ents we will be using is 20-25 blocks tall. They cannot be taller or else they will appear out of the canopy of the forest and not be hidden. I would prefer their proportions to look more or less like a person, and their legs positioned in a way that doesnt look like they are falling over. Of the ents made already I find that the ones that look the best have their torsos swayed to a diagonal position to be less flat. We will need ents of many different tree species. While having lots of oak/chestnut/beech ents is good, I am also interested in a few that are of less common tree types. Here is the quote indicating the various types of ents:
Given these tree types, I still am very much looking for the movie asthetic as far as how ents should look. If you have a specific ent from the movie in mind please recreate that.
This contest may not have a singular winner in the traditional sense, Any and all ents of acceptable quality will be added to my repository to be used when the terrain is made. Throughout the contest I will probably be visiting plots and leaving signs with feedback as I see it is needed. Please consider listening to this feedback as it is aimed at getting your plot acceptable enough to go in the repository. If you make one ent that is of acceptable quality you are more than welcome to make more
