I'm very new to minecraft and I was wondering how to change it to 1.12.2.

Hi,
on the Minecraft launcher go to Installations:
Select New...
Give this a name and select the version 1.12.2 & then create
Now go back to the play tab and just next to it there should be a dropdown where you can select the version, for mine i called it "1.12.2 - MCME"
