Roadmap <-CLICK
The roadmap above shows the ongoing and future projects on MCME. All dates are estimates based on our current understanding of how the future of MCME will look and given the general project goals and constraints outlined below. Future projects are an indication of the direction we want to go. It is very much possible that other projects might be added and effect the dates of already planned projects. Generally we would like to finish the Fellowship's path over the next two years, as such much of Mordor and Grey Havens are likely candidates of projects in the future.The roadmap is not the holy grail, which should be followed to the t, rather serves as another tool to communicate to those not terminally active in the community and provide some motivation and ambition to builders to lead these future projects.
General Goals
- Finish Fellowship's path.
- Work towards Hobbit builds.
- Work towards finishing the entire map.
- Have fun while doing it
Our Constraints
- Builders – what our builders are excited about working on / what the project leadership is excited to work on.
- Textures – what our texture artists are interested in making / what is possible with the current resource packs.
- Terrain – where terrain people want to contribute / what is the terrain currently looking like.
- Balance – making sure we don’t only do terrain, or only do cities, or only underground projects, but keep things varied.
- Coherence – avoiding jumping around the map too much. Want entire regions of the map to have a consistent quality and blend nicely together.
- Planning Stage – Projects should stay in a planning stage (=nothing gets put on the main map) for as long as we can not guarantee all constraints to be met. This might mean some planned projects never get on the map, but this is preferable over drawn out projects.
- Revamp Ratio – Revamps should be avoided when non revamps are available given constraints. Given a general goal of 4 or so active projects no more than two of those should be revamps. Just to be clear there are a number of unfinished locations on MCME (eg Mirkwood, eg Misties, eg portions of Moria... ) anything unfinished getting completely reworked is not regarded as a revamp.
