Hello MCME! This is a pretty rare occurrence where a Valar promotion happens, but we thought it would be best if I come into the position with a clear set of intentions that I can display via this post.
To start off, I will say that I won’t be making any major changes to anything like structure of the Guide rank right away, as I will be adjusting to the position myself and want a good understanding of how things should be handled generally. Following this, there will also be the absence of a Guide Manager, but there will not be any immediate replacement of that role or anything. Furthermore, the structure of how Guides come to collective decisions on things will not change either, meaning Guides will still discuss all applications. There are some things I would like to change structurally that I will begin messaging people around the community about to get an understanding of the opinions of the community, but I’ll talk more about that when the time comes.
As for what I’m hoping to bring with coming into the role of Head Guide, I would like to bring in more and new ways of motivating both the Guides and community members alike, as I believe that there are many ways to go about doing this and I’d like to continue a search to find everyone’s favorite. This will entail occasionally switching up requirements of the Guides to see what works best, but will not mean that anything that exists now like events, touring Tuesdays, etc, will be in any jeopardy. I’d also like to bring as much openness to this rank as possible without leaving too many decisions up to the community. There will, of course, be things that I will have to delegate on, be that with a specific group of people or by myself, but when it’s possible, I want the community to have its fair say about the rank that’s meant to create experiences for them. This will also mean my DM’s are just as open as they usually are, so if you have questions or concerns, please send them my way.
All that being said, I hope I can be a positive force in aiding the Guide rank’s growth and in helping the server be as fun as possible. See you around the server!
