Tour Badge Commoner Application Reinstatement and Reform
A couple small disclaimers before we begin. Firstly, these changes might be altered as the applications reopen since testing is required to make sure applicants have a pleasant experience with the application and are able to go through the paces to get the badge with effort but without struggle. Second, the Commoner Tours run by Artale every few months will continue to run and exist as an alternative option of running a tour that requires less work overall to prepare and can be a shared experience with other commoners. That being said, lets get into a straight run through of what the new application system looks like.
The new system is not too much different from the previous one, but has changes that aim to increase the understanding of an applicant on how to run a well-prepared tour and that creates a better system of reviewing badge holders. The process will start with a commoner posting a thread on the forums that follows the format at the top of the Badge Applications thread. The application will be reviewed by the Guides and can be moved forward from there. The applicant may be given a mentor (which defaults to myself if one is needed) that will help them prepare a trial tour and figure out a time/date. On the day of the tour, they will be judged on how entertaining, interesting, and accurate their tour was and will be given the badge if the tour is deemed successful. If not, the applicant could try again at a later date or cancel their application and try again further down the road. Once the applicant has the tour badge, they will be added to the list of badge holders that will be reviewed at Guide meetings. They will also be added to a tour guides' channel on the discord to communicate about tours.
Hope to see some new applications soon!
