How Can I Optimize Minecraft Java for Better FPS Without Mods?

delefal

Is going on an adventure!
Hey everyone,

I’ve been playing Minecraft Java Edition on my mid-range laptop and noticing some lag and FPS drops, especially in larger worlds or near villages.

I’m not using any mods or shaders, just vanilla gameplay. Are there specific in-game settings or JVM arguments that can help improve performance?

I've already set the graphics to fast and reduced the render distance, but it still struggles at times.

Is there anything else I can tweak in the launcher or system settings to get smoother gameplay?

Any advice would be appreciated!

I'd suggest to switch to sodium, it should improve your pc performance. We have an easy to use MCME istaller, just use /helper shaders ingame.

Sodium is a mod of course. So my question is why you don't want to use mods. Just because they are complicated or any other reason?

I can understand very well if you don't like mods. It's the same for me. MCME is essentially a vanilla Minecraft server that does not require any mods. Still Sodium improves performance a lot on many computers. The MCME installer is relatively simple to use (worst obstacle is that you need Java installed on your computer) and you can ask for help here or at the MCME Discord.
