• Welcome to MCME!

Minecraft Middle Earth is a Minecraft community that recreates the world described by JRR Tolkien and his writings. Everyone can participate in organized events in which we collaborate to create major landmarks, terrain, caves, castles, towns, farms and more.

How to apply for Artist

We try to give constructive feedback to every Artist application to help you develop the required building skills. At some times when there are many open applications this is a lot of work. Please help us by sticking to the following Artist Application Format:

Make an Application Thread:
Please create only ONE thread for your application in the Artist application forum. The Thread Title should contain your in-game Minecraft username.

Application Post:
The first post in your application thread should contain these sections:

  • Date:
Date you joined the server (If you cant remember you can simply write something like "early July 2015")
  • Jobs and Plotbuilds:
It increases your chances to get accepted very much when you participate in Jobs and Plotbuild (not Themed-builds) on the MCME server. Please make a list of these activities here and note what you built, location and supervising Foreman or Designer (e.g. Upper Class House in Dol Amroth with barteldvn). You may add a link to an album (e.g. at our media section or an external service like imgur) with screenshots, but it's not really necessary as the Designer or Foreman who supervised the job will tell us his observations.
  • Plotsquared Plots:
Plotsquared plots are a newer addition to the MCME network that give you a empty plot in which you can build anything you like by using World Edit and Voxel.
The base requirement for one on your artist app would need to be a completed one with a rating above 50. This would then need to be screenshotted and coordinates written down so we can teleport to the build.
See here for more info on PlotSquared- https://www.mcmiddleearth.com/community/resources/plotsquared-guide.165/
  • Additional Builds:
You may add a link to an album with screenshots of any builds you made. This can be creations you made in Singleplayer or elsewhere. If you post screens of a build from the build map or other builds where multiple people have worked on, you should explain which parts you made and which role you took in making that build. This is less important but if you built something cool just show it.
  • Your interests:
Write a bit about what style(s) do you like building the most (Elven, Gondorian, Rohirric, Dwarven...), also what you like building beside LotR related things.
  • Your motivation:
Why do you apply for artist? Tell us what MCME means to you, what projects you're keen on helping on...

Updating your application:
The application will be reviewed by a committee of Designers every second week, usually Friday or Saturday. You will receive feedback on how to improve your builds if you want. To update your application with new or improved builds do these steps:
  • Add new screenshots to the related albums.
  • Edit your application post with new or updated information and links.
  • Reply to your application thread and explain what is new (very important otherwise your updated may be unnoticed).

The Artist manual can be found on the website.

For ease of use, you can copy-paste this bit:

  • Date:
  • Jobs and Plotbuilds:
  • PlotSquared Plot(s):
