Hey guys!
The Problem:
As many of you have expressed to no avail over the past couple months, there is currently a backlog of artist applications that need proper addressing. Thank you to everyone, including staff artists and other community members, who have taken the time to leave feedback on all of the artist applications. We acknowledge that this has not been totally fair to some of those players that, while exceptional builders, have not received the rank they deserve in a reasonable amount of time.
The Solution:
To this extent we are currently working on a new system of reviewing artist applications, one that does not rely on a single staff member critiquing and approving each application. After all, there is a lot to consider for each application and this problem is by no means unique to the current staff involved in checking artist apps as it has happened before in the past due to the size of the task.
One current solution that many of us Designers are leaning towards is creating a voting system, somewhat similar to the commoner system, where players would require say 2-3 votes in order to be promoted. We would still be somewhat strict in terms of which applications make it through. This system would also allow any active designers, rather than just one, to give feedback to players on a publicly available spreadsheet. Players could then see what categories they should focus on (such as themed builds, jobs, friendliness, etc) in order to improve their application.
The reason I am posting this, however, is not to simply announce a decision but to get feedback from all of you. After all many of you have gone through the rank application process or are currently waiting on a decision on your application. Let us know what you think would improve how things currently run!
