Bareketta is a fortified town at the shores of the Lake Evendim in Arnor. It was the family seat of the House Eketya and featured "one of the loveliest keeps of Arthedain". It will be ruined but lets hope it will still be beautiful. Style will be similar to annuminas and other places of Arnor. Hope to carry over some silly concepts from old Baraketta, if it is possible.

Artists can build houses in bareketta now, only in the red plots to the left side please. This is important now so listen up, this project is
not as important
as other projects. i encourage all artists to go build/ruin houses elsewhere if it is necessary/needed, in places like pelargir and annuminas. I do not want to disturb the workflow of more important projects much at all. Consider this a side project.
 
Most of what I've read on the population of Eriador points to it surviving at least as long as Fornost, if not longer. The only thing I've found with actual numbers presents the following figures.
  • TA250:5300
  • TA1400:4900
  • TA1640:4700
  • TA1974:5000
  • TA2740:1300
With it reaching zero sometime between the Battle of Greenfields(2748) and the Fell Winter (2911). I would suggest The Long Winter (2758) as an early option for complete abandonment. The size of the town seems pretty appropriate for those numbers (~1/3 of Annuminas's peak population of around 15000).
 
The precise year in which Baraketta was abandoned changes little to the actual project. It will be build, and then ruined grief in the same manner as Annuminas will/is. Mere decades of being abandoned earlier won't be visible unless some catastrophic event took place, think of an earthquake, after which a city still inhabited would be rebuilt.

Good point.

Although, if we were using Peter Jackson The Hobbit logic, a meteor probably would have hit the castle.
 
Before anyone starts complaining, no, no, the castle does NOT look like hogwarts.

The name was made up for MERP, but it has a thorough etymology behind it (I did research it once but kis didnt put it here, isnt really too relevent for building anyway.)

fyi even David Salo, fictional language translator for the LotR and Hobbit movies, worked on MERP naming and languages.

Bareketta is a variation from the older name Bar Eketya which again is a variation from even older Mar Eketyaron. That name is pure Qenya (old Quenya) and translates as "home of the Eketyar". Eketyar again means "people of the Eket", while again Eket (modern Quenya ecet) means "short broad-bladed sword", and referred to a very specific kind of weapon imported from Númenor.
The thing with the name variations is also commonly seen IRL, for example a town in Switzerland once was called Turicum and today is known as the city Zürich.
