Yeah, I've got two different sized monitors (1600x900 and 1440x900) that I've been running in an Eyefinity setup when taking the screenshots.

Nope, it's based on art for Magic: the Gathering. Specifically the art for "Chandra, Torch of Defiance" by Magali Villeneuve. (Source image.)
