Peter Jackson and his carrots

Thought I would make a thread about this. In the first frames of The Desolation of Smaug it shows Peter Jackson walking out of a doorway eating a carrot. He also throws a spear over the wall defending Helms Deep in The Two Towers. Here
He also gets shot by Legolas on a corsair ship in Return of The King. Here

And i believe he is eating a carrot in the Fellowship of the Ring, in Bree.

In the destruction of Erebor, he is seen fleeing the entrance of Erebor. He runs past Thorin as he glances back to the entrance.

A little harder to recognize since he's got a bunch of dwarven prosthetics on his face.
