• Welcome to MCME!

Minecraft Middle Earth is a Minecraft community that recreates the world described by JRR Tolkien and his writings. Everyone can participate in organized events in which we collaborate to create major landmarks, terrain, caves, castles, towns, farms and more.

Plot Restricted World Edit/Voxel Badge

Members of Minecraft Middle-Earth, it has recently come to my attention that there is no way for commoners to practice their world edit and voxel skills, nor contribute in any significant way to terrain-heavy projects on the server. With the removal of plotsquared, those who do not have the voxel or world edit badge must practice with these plugins on different servers. This draws them away from building on MCME, at least as they practice with WE/voxel, which is the very opposite of what Management should be encouraging. Additionally, the best place to learn how world edit and voxel can be implemented within MCME's building style is on MCME itself. The solution to this problem is simple: provide eager commoners with a way to develop their skills with world edit and voxel on MCME by introducing a new badge.

The Plot Restricted World Edit/Voxel Badge would be given to trusted applicants who want to further contribute to the main goal of the server, building Middle Earth in Minecraft. Those in possession of this badge would only be able to employ world edit and voxel in plots assigned to them by foremen or designers, and the plots would have a smaller maximum size than normal plots. If it's too difficult to create a different type of plot for this purpose, I would suggest making it so that the badge wouldn't work in plots that are too large to be deemed "safe for non-team member voxel and world edit use". One might argue that world edit and voxel are often applied in large areas, thus making any reasonable maximum plot size that permits the use of this badge to be too small for any real benefit to come from it. However, I believe that a balance can be found between the maximum plot size and the typical scope of world edit and voxel projects.

With a limited number of active builders on the server, commoners are often integral contributors to the map's progression. Artist applications can take several months, or even years, and there are still a plethora of unfinished locations on the server that require significant terrain work. Friends of MCME, I implore you to consider the beneficial aspects of this suggestion and to share your thoughts below, so that we may improve the server, together. Thank you.
