The Summer Events are in Full Swing!
Editor's Note by Mapthor
Hello again, avid reader, and welcome back to The MCME Times Editor’s Note by Mapthor! As I assume you all know, the Summer Events have been in full swing this past week and a half. So far, these events have been great. We’ve had great Soc-Football matches with Archimedes, a movie night with Arothir, and one hell of a karaoke session with Xmine. So far, so good if you ask me. But, we’re not done yet! Next Friday (hopefully), Awaywind and I will be hosting our Mini-Middle-Earth Race. Also, be on the lookout for D3’s PvP Event on the 11th and Archimedes’s Moria Race on the 16th. Thank you all for participating in these Events so far. Hope to see you all at the next few events.
Happy Sailing,
Mapthor
~ Project Progress ~
Anorien - Lead: @Oberanio | In Progress
Report by Mershy
The war of Anorien carries on. Big updates include lots of re planning mostly done by Ober and a little from me. The farms around Dol Caranthan are getting a rework with some nice additions, such as lumber camps alongside the forest. Ober has also had a lot of help from a lot of people so a very nice job there. At this point it's a waiting game for the next releases of the Gondor resource pack. Forests and vegetation will finally be added then so stay tuned for updates.
Lond Daer – Lead: @Ivan1pl | In Progress
Report by Monster_Duck
Matt and Luk are in the process of planning out the rest of Lond Daer. The city is almost finished and Luk was recently planning out the large dock area, All the houses are almost complete with the palace area to be finished next. Lastly, Ivan has been working to get the Eriador pack updated with new blocks that will help the look of the city.
Moria – Lead: @DoctorDaom | In progress
Report by Mershy
Moria is well... Moria. The university in the 21st Hall has seen some more planning and building. Lots of great work over there. Bart has recently, since his return, running jobs in the chamber of light, building stalactites and stalagmites. Looks a lot sharper over there now. Additionally, towards my area we have finished the first mine area as we move throughout the cave. Last week, I also set up a small 21st housing plotbuild for people to try some designs to give us some fresh ideas of what could be used. We are looking forward to seeing some results. The plotbuild is still going on as this is released so if you are commoner+ and want something to build send me a message in game or through discord. Nic has been fiddling with the resource pack as well so we hope to see an update in the “near” future.
Osgiliath – Lead: @ooitsbirdo | In progress
Report by maski98
As I'm sure many of you already know, last week marked the end of the Osgiliath Section 1 revamp. Once again, huge thanks to all those who helped. In the meantime, Ooits has finally gotten his stuff together, running a few jobs on the last few bits of the walls and with everything slowly coming to a close I myself am excited as ever to finish this project. - Fish
Boys and girls the great wall project is starting! @Bean327 and @Mortal_Engineer have done a fine job planning the correct wall thickness and building the walls well. On Friday's job we managed to finish rebuilding section 4 walls. Section 3 will be next. Me and @maski98 worked on creating some vegetation concepts for the walls. Hopefully this will all be finished as soon as possible. Please spam me to do these jobs. - Ooits
And a little more thanks from me to @Mithrilled, @ESPER_ , @Itai007 and @Norir for helping finishing the camp at section 1! Probably Osgiliath will be finished soon? End of the Osgo report.

~ Lore of the Week ~
Míriel Queen of the Noldor:Míriel Þerindë, also spelled Serindë, was the first wife of Finwë, King of the Noldor. Her son was Curufinwë, whom she called Fëanáro, which means "Spirit of Fire". Miriel's hair was described as being silver in appearance, an unusual colour for one of the Noldor.
Míriel lived in the blessed realm of Aman, in the hill city of Tirion on Túna, together with her husband Finwë High King of the Noldor. Her hands were skilled in the shaping of fine things, and she was unsurpassed in weaving and needlework.
There was much love between Míriel and Finwë, and even more for her son, but after giving birth to Fëanor in Y.T. 1169, her body and her spirit were consumed and she wished to be released from life everlasting, saying that there was no strength left in her to bear another child. Despite Finwë's grief, and her unhappiness at abandoning her young child, Míriel departed for the gardens of Lórien, to rest and regain her strength and vigour. But during her rest, the fëa departed from her body, and entered the Halls of Mandos leaving her body lying lifeless and still in Y.T. 1170. Maidens of Estë took care of her body while her spirit remained in the Halls of Mandos, so that it would not wither. In essence, she had died of free will. This was seen as a shocking event by the Valar and Eldar which had never before occurred. Manwë allowed Finwë to take another wife given these exceptional circumstances.
After the death of Finwë, Míriel was granted permission to return to life, where she entered the service of Vairë, her task to record all the deeds of the House of Finwë.
The name Míriel means "Jewel-daughter" in Quenya, from mír ("jewel") and -iel ("daughter"). Her epessë Þerindë, or Serindë in the Quenya of Tirion, means "the Broideress", referring to her great skill in embroidery for 'her chief talent was a marvelous dexterity of hand', which she applied to her skill of embroidery, 'achieving in what even the Eldar thought haste' embroidery that 'was finer and more intricate than any that had before been seen'. It was her Mother Name. It is to be noted that she preferred and requested her kin use the older pronunciation of Þerindë, and that her son upheld the use of Þ over s out of respect and in her memory.
In other versions of the legendarium, in the beginning of The Shibboleth of Fëanor, Fëanor is an adult, and Míriel is still alive. There the similarities between mother and son, such as their stubbornness, are revealed. Fëanor's reaction to his mother's death is also presented, as he guarded her hröa, which was placed in a garden, for some time after her passing. In the published Silmarillion, Míriel died soon after his birth.

ArtistAhh yes. We all know the question. “How can I build?", As well as the responses “You can try a theme build” and “You can take part in jobs." The other answer is “Apply for Artist”, and the last option is by far the most exciting. Being able to build in your favorite places all the time. Sounds awesome. We can never have enough Artists, and with a wide range of current projects, there’s plenty for you to do!
Are you inspired to join MCME’s main build rank? You can apply for Artist/ today on the forums! The Managers, Designers and current Artists will work with you and help you on your journey.

How to get started? Explore our map! MCME has a variety of styles, try to understand them. Obviously it's best to look at our most recently finished or current wip projects, as you'll hopefully be working on those in the future, but there are some old builds that still look quite up to date...

Guide
Or perhaps, you’re not a builder. Well. That’s not a problem! Becoming A guide is obviously the better option anyway. As a Guide, you’re the forefront of MCME, and there’s no greater feeling than when someone says your tour was awesome. You don’t actually have to be a lore nerd either, you’ll pick up on lots really quickly.
When you join the Guides, you’ll be giving tours, running mini-games and testing players in lore quizzes, or if you prefer less “on the spot” stuff, Guidebooks are obviously your zen, or helping to tell MCME about MCME by writing up articles in the times. You’ll also plan help plan events such as The Summer Events and The Anniversary Events. We hope you join us soon, because us Guides really would love some more of us. What’re you waiting for?
Just click Guide and apply today!

Guide Application Aid
Where to Begin? There are many things we look for when someone applies, all are taken into account as a factor of the specific person. Being a guide is not all about having the Silmarillion memorized or being able to talk in voice chat for hours. While we look for them they don't hurt you if...
