Opening statement
What an exciting week this has been for 'Beren and Luthien' has been published! The normal hardback version contains the Lay of Leithian and stunning coloured drawings by Alan Lee. We have also had exciting things happening on the server where building has started in Dol Amroth (but not for everyone yet, you need to wait for the new pack and for thijs to say 'go'). Let's now see what else has been going on in MCME this week!
Project Progress
Andrast (In Progress) - Lead: @jacenpeter
Building has not yet officially started but staff and project staff have been doing some work there. @Wodleth has started to construct the theatre which is looking very nice. The military district is being built and the planning of the swan-knight's quarters is currently being done. @Thijs1801 has started to plan the main keep of the city and he has been getting @jacenpeter to make towers, in particular Tirith Aear.
Lamedon (On Hold) - Lead: @_Luk
Texture DevelopmentMatt has made progress in northern Andrast this week on terrain. Jacen has not made much progress because @Thijs1801 has been getting him to work in Dol Amroth.
Belfalas (In Progress) - Lead: @Darki
New players have been smoothing terrain in Plotbuilds this week.
Dol Amroth (In Progress) - Lead: @Thijs1801

No updates as the project is on hold.
Mordor Terrain (In Progress) - Lead: @Tyranystrasz
No news this week.
Moria (In Progress) - Lead: @Despot666
This week Fire has been continuing the military halls of Moria and has been running plenty of jobs in them. @slaMoria is making a bathhouse for the soldiers in the military area. @Robz has been helping Fire with halls in this area as well. I think the warp to see all of this is /warp f4
Tolfalas (In Progress) - Lead: @Tyranystrasz
No news this week.
The updated Gondor RP was released last week but we are waiting for 1.12 to be released to add more new blocks to it. The RP that has been released will be implemented on to the server very soon.
Plugin Development
Custom inventories / itemblocks (In progress) - Dev: @Eriol_EandurFinrod has now started to work on the custom inventory for the Moria RP. Eriol has also been trying to find out how to use mob spawners instead of armour stands for itemblocks which will create less lag. For more information on Eriol's plugin work, visit his Plugin Status Thread.
No news this week.
Unfortunately, there has only been one rank update this week which is the demotion of @Beathaven from Designer. Well done for all of the hard work you have done as Designer.
Media of the Week
This week, I have chosen the Media of the Week to be Minas Tirith by @Nateolocity01.
Lore-Off
The Lore-Off has now begun, and the time to sign up is past. Over the next few weeks we shall see who will be victorious and claim the title in this competition of lore geekery. I for one wish all of the candidates good luck, with the exception of my opponent of course.
WANTED: Short stories!
Mapthor has had his bookstore for a few weeks now but he has got very few stories in it. Mapthor needs your stories, so if you enjoy a bit of writing or even reading, here is more information about the bookstore and how to get your books in it:
@mapthor has been making a Bookstore in Bree with stories written by you in it. If you want another one of your stories in the store, then please write your story down and message it to Finrod! The length is pretty irrelevant, all it has to be is authentic. That especially means:
- No items that would not exist in Middle-earth.
- No MCME player names.
- No conflicts with the known storylines.

Smaug's Lore Fact of the Week
As I said last week, there is a whole history to pipeweed so I have tried to include most of it here...
Fact: There are three types of pipeweed in The Shire.
Pipeweed originated in Numenor where it was named Sweet Galenas and it was a very nice smelling flower which is what Gondorians and Numenorians ever used it for. Sweet Galenas eventually made it to Bree and the people there decided to stick it in a pipe and see what it tasted like when it was smoked and it turned out to be very addictive. A hobbit named Tobold Hornblower of Longbottom brought it to The Shire where the pipeweed was planted in the South Farthing. The pipeweed, overtime, became three different types named Old Toby, Longbottom Leaf, and Southern Star with two of these being named after Tobold himself! Old Toby is a shortened version of Tobold, and Longbottom Leaf comes from Longbottom where Tobold came from.
For even more information of pipeweed, visit the Introduction of the Fellowship of the Ring.
Closing statement
And in celebration of the publishing of 'Beren and Luthien,' I shall leave you with this quote from The Silmarilion where Beren first sees Luthien Tinuviel.
