The last two weeks have been pretty crazy, to say the least. After Node came on we have had a consistent one hundred people on at a time. We have been on not just YouTube, but Reddit, Instagram, and Facebook! We haven't seen these kind of stats in years and progress has boomed! More is being worked on and many adventurers are joining in. To all new players, welcome to MCME! We are glad you could join us in our great feat, and I hope you find a place in the community. Whether its building or sharing your knowledge with the world, I hope you have the time of your life.

Good progress going on in Anorien, with terrain around Osgiliath and Dol Caranthan being finished. Beacon huts and storage are being worked on now, and Didi has been working on terrain as well.

Amazing work has been done the past weeks, as both droogs (adventurers and commoners), Foremen, Artists, and last but not least Fire and Ivan had been working their butts off to finish the amazing terrain. Yes, you heard it correctly, the terrain is as good as done around Lond Daer! Further development on the resource pack and style is going strong, so more updates later!

The deep dark deep down has been slowly expanding, and not just that - so has the planning. The document that contains all halls and caves has been updated, so you can accurately see how far the progress is (with small error). Leadership of the fellowship’s path has been given over to DoctorDaom, the newly promoted Designer. He has started strong and has talked with a few Moria builders and has laid down his plans, which you will see in the next couple of weeks! Lastly there has been some good work been done by RubenPieterMark who has been working in the western mines, be sure to check it out when you go there!

Osgiliath – Lead: @ooitsbirdo | In progress

Lots of progress in Osgiliath! Areas R and F are finished, and work is being started on the rest. Ooits, bart, and Fish are hard at work pasting in trees. Section 3 is currently being worked on, with Area A being the main focus of the project.

Helms Deep Battle

The plugin for the battle is now being tested on a separate server. It's still a lot of work to do to balance the battle and remove bugs. There will be test runs now and then during the next days. There is no schedule for them. It all depends on my progress. When I have something to test I'll ask on discord and the buildserver to join and help testing.

Guide Workshop

This past weekend our guides held a workshop explaining and demonstrating what it is they really do. It was a blast to be apart of and many learned
new information on what goes on inside the guide rank. They did races, Hide and seek, tours, mazes, guidebooks and quiz's. Many people showed up

~ Winners of “The Week” ~ ​

So we got some good ones as always. Make sure you show some special recognition towards the winners of the week! They’ve presented exemplary displays of our server’s creative potential! Give a hand to these winners!

MEDIA WINNERS:
The boomer generation (all members here from the chain reaction after Node) brought a number of talented photographers with it. Looking at Jamy, t3kk1tpro, ChariotOfFlame and specifically Rre36. Credoo also made some screenshots, with some turning out very nice.
Our casual photographers, being the Lord of the Squids, Xmine, Raffy and Lindolas, did not disappoint us either. Once again, thank you for your work.
Apologies if I forgot anyone.



As it turns out. RRe36 actually makes his own shaderpacks, which he specifically adjusted for certain areas. That explains the warm feeling in Lothlórien that fits it so well.

THEME-BUILD OF THE FORTNIGHT:
There were dozens of themed-builds to choose from this week, but after hours of contemplation I think these ones show off the best talent!

~ Lore of the Week ~ ​

The Kin Strife:
The Kin Strife is the name for a large civil war that tore the kingdom of Gondor apart for some time. It began in 1432 of the third age, and lasted until 2447. The unrest that started the kin strife began when Valacar, son of king Rómendacil II, married a woman named Vidumavi. Vidumavi was a woman of the northmen (the ancestors of the Rohirrim) who at this time dwelt in Rhovanion. They had a son named Eldacar, and when Valacar began to grow old the coastal provinces, angered by the mixing of northmen and Gondorian blood, grew unrestful. When Eldacar succeeded the throne in 1432, this unrestfulness grew into open rebellion. Many of the people saw Eldacar as a half breed who had no right to rule, and this was why they wanted to overthrow him. They were led by a distant relative of Eldacar named Castamir the Usurper. Eldacar was overthrown and 1437 and forced into exile. His son and heir Ornendil was murdered by Castamir as well. Eldacar fled into Rhovanion and Castamir assumed the throne. During the rebellion Osgiliath was burned and the Dome of the Stars was destroyed, with the Palantir falling into the Anduin.

A full decade later in 1447 Eldacar returned to Gondor with troops from Rhovanion, and at the same time the people rebelled against Castamir’s cruel leadership. Eldacar killed Castamir at the Battle of the Crossings of Erui, and Castamir’s sons retreated to Pelargir where they were besieged before escaping by ship to Umbar. This resulted in a long rivalry with Umbar, with the kings all being descendants of Castamir's 3 sons. Their grandchildren eventually attacked Pelargir while the king was in town, ransacking the city and killing the king.

The war resulted in much hardship and lost for Gondor. Umbar became a major rival to Gondor and was lost for four centuries, and Osgiliath was abandoned. Many of the people with the purest Numenorean blood were killed in the war as well. The Kin Strife as well as the Great Plague were the chief reasons for the abandonment of fortresses in and around Gondor. After the kin strife, the kings of Gondor were often suspicious and watchful of those near of kin, and this contributed to the eventual loss of the line of Anarion and the ending of the kings of Gondor, until Aragorn returned.

Ahh yes. We all know the question. “How can I build?", As well as the responses “You can try a theme build” and “You can take part in jobs." The other answer is “Apply for Artist”, and the last option is by far the most exciting. Being able to build in your favourite places all the time. Sounds awesome. We can never have enough Artists, and with a wide range of current projects, there’s plenty for you to do!

Or perhaps, you’re not a builder. Well. That’s not a problem! Becoming A guide is obviously the better option anyway. As a Guide, you’re the forefront of MCME, and there’s no greater feeling than when someone says your tour was awesome. You don’t actually have to be a lore nerd either, you’ll pick up on lots really quickly.
When you join the Guides, you’ll be giving tours, running minigames and testing players in lore quizzes, or if you prefer less “on the spot” stuff, Guidebooks are obviously your zen, or helping to tell MCME about MCME by writing up articles in the times. You’ll also plan help plan events such as The Summer Events and The Anniversary Events. We hope you join us soon, because us Guides really would love some more of us. What’re you waiting for?
