MCME has been created as a community. We have a rule not to download the map because we do not want people to claim it as their own and we do not want people to make a profit from it. Breaking this rule usually results in a permanent ban.

So put an Easter egg in the world somewhere and don't tell anyone about it. That way if anyone makes the claim you can prove its your world. Not making this downloadable really does a disservice to all the builders on here. I know I won't ever join this server because a shit builder and would rather play than build. Shit I would put five on it for the download lol.

Hey There,

If this was downloadable it would be very easy for people to make videos on it claiming they have built it. We would not be able to prove it was from MCME as someone who downloads the map and claims it as their own is unlikely to be willing to check a secret place for an "Easter egg", If this happens too much eventually the attraction of the server will die down as it would not appear to be as unique if loads of people have it. Therefore reducing the future playerbase.

You don't have to build just to be on MCME, you are free to just explore the map, wander around, roleplay or do whatever you want. You can even experience MCME in survival by joining the yearly Summer Survival if you're interested in that. You don't have to be a good builder to be a part of MCME, everyone is welcome.
 
Please let me change your mind. My wife has loved Lord of the Rings since she was a child. Whenever we talk about it, it's like bringing up distant memories of an old loved one. Her mind goes to another place: this place. I know this world already lives inside her. I would like very much to take her to this world you created and walk through it with her as she sees it for the first time as if she's there. It would mean a lot to be able to do that without any distractions, such as other players jumping through with out-of-character skins. Playing at 2 in the morning isn't an option for her due to sleep issues.

I understand this is an original work you made, and you're concerned about other people stealing it. I'm not an attorney, but I've dealt with copyright issues in the past, and I know any attorney would tell you that you would be protected by copyright law. Copyright law is very strict these days. Any original work you create is protected. Minecraft is just a tool of creation. Vanilla textures belong to Microsoft, but all other work, such as the arrangement of blocks, new textures, and all the intellectual and manual labor that went into it is protected by copyright law. The only requirement is to prove you are the original author, which is very easy in your case, as you have a website, forum, YouTube videos, and backup logs of the world that would predate anyone else's. I'm sure you'd be protected.

If anyone were to infringe on your work, enforcing the copyright is as easy as sending a DMCA Takedown notice to the host. There are instructions on how to do that on many sites, or you could pay $10/mo to have DMCA Protection & Takedown Services do it. If the host doesn't take it down right away, you would make a lot of money from them in court: Copyright Infringement: How Are Damage Amounts Determined?

If you choose not to release it, people like my wife and I won't be able to enjoy it privately. If you do release it, your rights as a creator are still protected, except you allow people like us to experience your creation in its purest form. It's up to you what you want to do with it, but I hope this helps you change your mind.
 
I wish it would be that easy. But stolen builds usually appear quickly on some foreign servers who don't care at all about DMCA takedowns.

But reading your post I got the idea that it would be simple to make a party gamemode. It would hide all players from you, except those you invite into your party. A separate chat for your party would also be doable. Quite a lot of people use the map for role playing, I think they would love a such a party mode too.

I'm afraid that even as a trusted member of the community you still have very little chance in being able to download the map.
You are best asking one of the Vala about this to get a more in depth answer but the short answer is no.

All the above points are your answer really. Small, foreign servers desperate for players don't care about non-disclosure agreements. Already we have had damage done to our server due to people claiming the work as their own. It is a shame for a lot of people who would genuinely do the right thing, however even a tiny minority in this case is enough to cause significant damage. Like we say, the server is always open and there for you to explore :)
